Cameron’s First Christmas

This is Cameron’s first Christmas! All the photos are here. More on this post coming soon!

Gatlinburg, TN trip Labor Day Weekend: Day 2

Today was a crazy long day! But well worth every minute. So the big UofL and UK game is on tonight. I’ve already told Carrie that I wanted to be back from all our day’s activities so that I could watch it. However, as usual, I am running late which means that I will probably not get to catch the start of the game. By the time we got Cameron ready and we finished up it was almost 10 instead of 8 like we had wanted.

We ate at Flapjack’s Pankake House it was amazing.Tthe Food was a A+ Service was a B+ and pricing was a B- Overall we will be going back. The service and food were so much better than our breakfast the day before.

After breakfast it was off to Dollywood! (Dolly Parton’s amusement park) I’ve been to several amusement parks and after being to Disneyland and Disney World none compare. This is our second trip to Dollywood and it’s the closest to being a Disney park that I have been to. This is a great park would give it an A+. We finally got into the park after the drive and parking at about noon. (Just on my side note do the math…. we get there at noon kick off is at 3:30….) Carrie hadn’t been able to ride a really good ride for a couple of years and Dollywood was definatly able to fill her appetite for thrill rides. I of course being the daredevil and thrillseeker that I am opted to watch Cameron as opposed to riding rides;-) They have made some great upgrades to the park just since we had been there a couple of years ago. You can see some of the rides Carrie rode and pics of the park in the photos from today.

We we’re finally out of the park by about 5:00 so I had definatly missed at least the first half of the game. We finally made it back to Gatlinburg, got Cameron changed and went across the street to watch the game or at least the fourth quarter at Applebee’s. Only because it was close not because I really wanted to hang out at Applebee’s all night. We met some very cool people from Louisville who were here for their anniversary too. (Even though they were Kentucky fans!) If you missed the game final score 27-2 Kentucky. Not a great day for Louisville. While we were there we saw an ambulance, fire truck, and the police across the street at our hotel. Carrie went out to see what was going on. It was a fight between a couple of people and one ended up in the hospital. Luckily our car was not damaged during the course of the parking lot fight;-)

We decided to take a stroll downtown just to check out the little shops we hadn’t been able to see yet. Since it was Sunday, even though the streets were packed becuse it was Labor Day Weekend, alot of them were closed. Carrie really wanted to get an airbrushed shirt that said “Cameron’s Mommy” on it. Being the avid deal hunter that she is we check with every airbrush shop in town before she made her decision. (Just one of the many reasons I love her!) She ended up getting almost what she wanted, I think it turned out great but she wanted some green on there too. See photos from tomorrow, I’m sure she’ll wear it. Back to the hotel to get some sleep another busy day tomorrow. See photos from today here now!ikoni

Gatlinburg, TN trip Labor Day Weekend: Day 1

It’s hard to believe that Carrie and I have been married for two years and yet here it is. So since it was a surprise to many of you that we had gotten married until months after….. you may also not know that we came to Gatlinburg, TN on our Honeymoon. Two years later we’re back with our newest addition (Cameron) to celebrate our anniversary.

Day #1
We ended up leaving Louisville around 4:45AM and getting here around 10:00AM. I wanted to leave early and get here before the traffic got coungested. (If you’ve ever been to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge you know what I’m talking about!) We were able to check in to the hotel and was surprised to see that we had gotten a 10% off coupon to the Atrium Resturant across the parking lot from our hotel room. Since we had been driving all morning we decided to give it a try we were tired and hungry and it was convinient. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated about usual for any place here in Gatlinburg. Just as a personal note…. this place is expensive and the food and service is surely not up to par with the prices.

We came back to the room and I slept for a few hours. (This was because I had still not slept from the night before.) Carrie had realized that she had forgotten her swimming suit at home so she and Cameron drove back to Pigeon Forge to find one. Carrie did exactly what I wanted to avoid. She got stuck in traffic on her way back, a 7 mile trip that ended up taking two hours.

When Carrie got back we went to grab some lunch. Get your pen and paper out here’s another trip note for ya: No Way Jose’s Mexican Resturant! Service, Food, Prices A++++ Great all the way arond. Eli was our server always had us taken care of the entire time even though he had like 10 other tables. I wold have thought we were his only table util Carrie told me about the tables he had behind me. This was a great relief since our breakfast was not that impressive.

Next it was off to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies! If you have never been before one word: GO! This was all of our first time and I guarentee it will not be our last! We will be back. Check out the photos for just a few of the amazing things we saw. If you don’t want to scroll to the end of this post to get the photo album link I’ll post it here too.

I surprised Carrie and took her to her first dinner show! (Yes, Cameron’s first dinner show as well.) We went to Dixie Stampede. Food and Show A+++ Service D+. Dolly Parton would be disapointed. Our server, Don, started out being an all right guy. Since we had Cameron we had to take turns holding him. When it came time to eat, it naturally took us longer trying to juggle holding him and eating with no eating utensils. He started making remarks about us taking so long.  Then when it came time to tip him he worked hard, I was one of the few who actually tipped him. I gave him a twenty asked him for change and he gave me this weird look like I was crazy for asking for change and walked away. I’m sorry the show was good the dinner was good but not worth a twenty dollar tip. We sat there until he came back around and told him that I had give him a twenty and just needed some change. I told him to just give me ten back and keep the rest. He literally threw my ten dollars at me. After I started to think that I should have gotten my other ten back;-) Ok, not really but come on! We probably won’t go back anytime soon we’re probably going to check out one of the other shows here before we do.

We’re getting ready to crash now. Big day tomorrow! Photos from today can be found here.Православни икони

Idaho Trip!

We’ve made it back! It was a great trip home for me and a great first trip to Idaho for Carrie and Cameron. It was a very busy week. We flew into Boise, drove through Oregon and Washinton to Ricky and Brynn’s Wedding in Spokane, then to Lewiston, Idaho for their recepton, then back through the center of the state back to Emmett. For pics of the entire trip click here.

Ricky & Brynn: Pre-reception!

Yes it’s true! My little brother Ricky is getting married! Sounds crazy, but he found a great girl and I am confident they will have an an extremely happy and blessed marriage. Brynn welcome to the family! You may be asking about this “Pre-reception” This is the reception for everyone in and around Emmett, Idaho prior to the wedding in Spokane. Obviously Carrie, Cameron, and I have made the trek from Kentucky and are here. We’ll be posting pics from the rest of our trip and Ricky & Brynn’s Wedding Day soon. A few pics of the Pre-Reception are here.Сувенири

Week 29 and Ultrasound #2!

My parents came to visit from Emmett, Idaho this past week. It was a blast, hoping to post pics from their visit soon. It was Carrie’s first time meeting them, although she talks to them on the phone all the time. While they were here we had our 2nd Ultrasound. we got a couple of 3D pics of our new son! You can see all of them here. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Extreme Makeover: Louisville Home Edition

Carlos and I went to see the location where Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was being taped here in Louisville. For those of you who have never seen the show, it is a group of people who  search the United States in search for families struggling in their everyday lives. Some families have been struck with terrible disasters such as fires or hurricanes, which have destroyed their home. Other families chosen for the show are active people in the comunity that continue to make sacrifices to provide for others around them. It is a really great show and it finally gives back to those that deserve it. They start by chosing a family and they send that family on an all exclusive vacation to Disney World, etc. Then they get all of the volunteers and construction workers and demolish the old house. From scratch they begin to build a house that is made to fit all of the wants and needs of the family.

The family that was chosen here in Louisville was a family with a blind and handicapped son. Despite his physical limitations, the son has never lost his dream of being a musician. He has been playing several insturments and singing since he was just a small child. He attends the University of Louisville and is a part of the music program. As a part of the marching band, his father has had to sacrifice his day job so that he can attend the band meets with his son to learn the routine so that he can push his son in his wheelchair. It is a very inspiring story, so the Extreme team is building a brand new home that is much more accessible for their son . It also will help take some financial stress off of the father that gave up his morning job to help his son achieve his dreams. You can see all of the photos of our visit here.Сувенириикони
